Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship
Welcome to the home page for the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW)-Austin Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Fellowship! The UTSW-Austin PEM fellowship is based at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. Dell Children's is the only free standing children's hospital in the Austin area and one of only 17 Level 1 pediatric trauma centers in the United States.
The emergency department at Dell Children's sees nearly 80,000 patients a year and provides the highest level of pediatric emergency medicine care in the 46-county area. The division has 18 full time pediatric emergency medicine fellowship trained faculty that are dedicated to teaching and clinical care. The hospital has full pediatric subspecialty coverage including 24-hour in house NICU, PICU, and pediatric surgery faculty.
The Dell Children's Emergency Center is the primary pediatric emergency medicine training facility in the area for pediatric, family practice and emergency medicine residents and rotating medical students.
As a fellow in the UTSW Austin PEM Fellowship, you will have the unique opportunity to train at a pediatric facility that sees the highest level of acuity while under the guidance and mentorship of the most highly trained pediatric faculty in the area. In addition, PEM fellows will spend their adult training at University Medical Center Brackenridge, the only adult Level 1 trauma center in the region and home to the UTSW Austin Emergency Medicine Residency.
Our mission in Austin is to provide fellows with a training program and individualized learning plan that ensures they are prepared and excelling in every career path available within the field of pediatric emergency medicine. Our fellowship incorporates excellent clinical exposure and teaching, a dynamic multimedia curriculum, primary and research mentorship programs and extensive scholarly activities, with schedules designed to guarantee protected time for non-clinical duties.
We are enthusiastic about bringing the best and brightest to train at one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the nation while calling Austin, one of the great cities in the nation, home.
